THE TEAM
Balkan Ecology Project is a family run project - Paul, Sophie and their two boys Dylan and Archie. They moved to Bulgaria from the UK in 2005, before which Paul worked as an arborist, running a tree care business in the suburbs of South London and Sophie as a registered nurse. Inspired by the widespread practice of locally grown food and the incredible biodiversity of Bulgaria they started to develop productive ecological gardens and began to share what they were learning. In 2010 Paul founded the Balkan Ecology Project with aims to develop and promote practices that provide nutritious affordable food while enhancing biodiversity and to provide a world class example of a regenerative landscape at their site. Balkan Ecology Project activities currently include; |
Plant Nursery - Educational Courses - Local Land Stewardship - Polyculture Research - Market Gardening - Consultancy and Design
PROFIT PLEDGE
Any profits from our activities are used to purchase land with high ecological value currently under threat from industrial agricultural development. The land, once under our stewardship, is managed with respect for its inherent value and vital ecosystem support.
We have recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for our polyculture research. We are thankful to friends, family, volunteers, donors and our customers that support us and help us on mission :)
