Purple Loosestrife - Lythrum salicaria - €3 per plant
Purple Loosestrife is a herbaceous perennial producing attractive pink/purple blooms throughout the summer months. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by bees and flies. It is noted for being a highly ornamental plant, attracting lots wildlife including an array of butterflies. It has a good reputation medicinally, mainly being used as a treatment for diarrhoea and dysentery. The plant is invasive on disturbed sites.
