Aegean Wallflower - Erysimum cheiri - €6 per plant 

Aegean Wallflower is a beautiful perennial evergreen from the family Brassicaceae, native to Europe but widespread as an introduced species elsewhere. It is also widely cultivated as a garden plant. The plant produces a wonderful display of flowers early in the year attracting pollinisers for the fruit garden.   • Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils, prefers well-drained soil and can grow in nutritionally poor soil. 
  • Suitable pH: neutral and basic (alkaline) soils and can grow in very alkaline soils.
  • It cannot grow in the shade. 
  • It prefers dry or moist soil. 
  • The plant can tolerate maritime exposure.

Products

  • A very ornamental plant, it is liable to die out after flowering, probably because it exhausts itself by producing so many flowers. 
  • Plants require a very well-drained dry soil if they are to survive a second winter. 
  • They grow well on dry stone walls and also on old mortared walls where they usually self-sow. 
  • A good butterfly and moth plant.
  • Said to be a good companion for apple trees
